Hillsdale
Beauty College was established in 1928 under the name of Riggs School
of Beauty Culture by Ina H. Riggs and her daughter Leah Riggs Hay.
The school was operated by Mrs. Riggs until her death in 1953.
Ms. Ruth Marvin
purchased the school and moved it to its present location in 1957.
Ms. Marvin led the school to become one of the finest beauty schools
in the state of Michigan. Upon her retirement, Ms. Marvin sold the
school to Mrs. Darlene Feller, and it was again sold to Stephen and
Judy Smith in 1987.
Diane
Kwiatkowski became the Education Director in 1988. Diane and Gerald
Kwiatkowski became owners in January 2000. Diane graduated from the
Select Beauty Academy in 1968, and graduated as an Instructor from the
Edward’s School of Cosmetology in 1973. Gerald graduated from Western
Michigan University and Central Michigan University.
